Outfielder Jason Bay has passed his physical for the NY Mets and will be introduced by his team at a press conference on Tuesday.
New York Mets had reached an agreement on a 4-year deal worth $66 million with a vesting option for a fifth season.
Jason, who spent some time in the Mets minor league system in 2002, hit .267 last season for the Red Sox, but set career-highs with 36 home runs and 119 RBI (Run batted in)
Jason also stole 13 bases, the most he has had in a season since swiping 21 in 2005 with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The 31-year-old native of British Columbia had reportedly been seeking at least a five-year deal and was also being courted by the Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants and LA Angels of Anaheim.
An original draft pick of the Montreal Expos back in 2000, Bay was the National League Rookie of the Year with the Pirates in 2004. A 3-time AllStar, Jason is a career .280 hitter with 185 home runs and 610 RBI in 922 games for the San Diego Padres, Pirates and Red Sox.
