Mike Tyson detained after altercation with photographer

Former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson was detained Wednesday morning after reportedly hitting a photographer at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport).

The LA Times reported the incident occurred at Terminal 7. A source told the newspaper that Mike Tyson and the photographer traded accusations about the altercation.

The paper reports the photographer told investigators that Mike Tyson punched him in the face and tried to take the film from his digital camera.

Tyson was taken to the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Division where he was booked on suspicion of battery and released. The photographer was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital with injuries to his face.

The 43-year-old Tyson retired from competitive boxing in 2005.
